The Irish and lovers of the Irish were treated to a brilliant, bright, blustery day for the 30th Annual Sioux Falls St. Patrick’s Day Parade today.

Here are some snapshots I took of the parade as it went past my law office on Main Avenue.
Perhaps the most enjoyable part of the parade was the early placement of the McCrossen Boys’ Ranch Wagon, pulled by two massive Belgium draft horses, which took a large, long poop on the street.
Our part of the crowd delighted in warning parade participants—particularly those on foot—to beware of the poo. Sioux Falls City Councilor Kermit Staggers had the closet encounter with the horse manure. Shouldn’t be surprising that a politician is the one who almost “stepped in it.” ;)

One of the Irish family’s castle. A late 1950s Ford Ranchero. The Moran Clan float. The Make-A-Wish Foundation’s Leprechaun. Sioux Falls Public Works’ street cleaner, the traditional end of the parade, dispatching the “horsey.” The Winnipeg Shrine’s Drum and Bagpipe Band, a parade tradition. War protestors from the Answer Coalition. Young Tyler Froseth gets his Irish on. Molly and Roy sport Liberty Tax Miss Liberty crowns. A really tall, old time bike.
