I was supposed to go to Deadwood this weekend for the "Deadwood in Deadwood" HBO cast visit.

I love that show so much!  I love the HBO "Deadwood" bulletin boards were I talk with fellow Deadwoodians about the show.

Well, family and work responsibilities kept me from going and meeting my favorite actors and cyber-friends from the website.

According to the Rapid City Journal's Bill Harlan, I am indeed missing a good time.

An excerpt:

(W. Earl) Brown ("Dan Dority") explained the moment "I fell in love with this town."

It was during a visit last year; he was invited to judge a wet T-shirt contest. One of the actors who plays a gun-fighter in Deadwood's street theater was in charge of keeping the T-shirts wet. After the contest, Brown started to chat the fellow up.

"‘I'd love to hang out, Earl, but I've got to get back to jail," the man told Brown.

"He was on work release!" Brown said. "I knew then it was my kind of town."

Yes, my kind of town indeed!

If you are a "Deadwood" fan, you have to buy this week's issue of Entertainment Weekly. It has a full page photo of the women of HBO"s "Deadwood" dressed as they really are and not in character.

I did not recognize Robin Weigert (Calamity Jane).  She is a beautiful woman.  I think it takes some major acting cojones, a major commitment to a part, and a major commitment to excellence to allow David Milch to turn her into such a homely tomboy like Jane.

With apologies to the beautiful and brilliant Mrs. Epp, guys, you won't believe your eyes.

‘Deadwood' cast heads to town

DEADWOOD -- Thirteen members of the cast of HBO's popular dramatic series "Deadwood" are headed for this fabled Black Hills community.

Cast members were invited to take in the color of the real town portrayed on the small screen every Sunday night. And a portion of the cast took the town up on its offer.

Among the cast-members planning to visit Deadwood Friday through Sunday, June 24-26, are Paula Malcomson (Trixie), Robin Weigert (Calamity Jane), W. Earl Brown (Dan Dority), Sean Bridgers (Johnny Burns), Jim Beaver (Ellsworth), Keone Young (Mr. Wu), Garrett Dillahunt (Francis Wolcott), Franklyn Ajaye (the "General"), Titus Welliver (Silas Adams), Richard Gant (Hostetler), Peter Jason (Con Stapleton), Pavel Lychnikov (Russian telegraph operator) and A.C. Lyles (consultant for "Deadwood").

I think it would be great to get a bunch of us show fans together and go and see our people.  Let me know if you are interested.  Republicans, Democrats, Independents, are all invited.
