Today's Big Dopey Letter to the Editor: Sex = Natural Disaster

katrinaThis letter to the editor in today's Argus Leader more than speaks for itself.  But for those upon whom the lesson is lost, we have more natural disasters now because your kids are having pre-marital sex.  An excerpt:

Many a thinking person has wondered, "Is there a connection between sexual violations and that natural disaster?" Our land has suffered more disasters recently than ever before. Is there a connection between these and our deplorable sexual record? Sexual violations are as prevalent as any in Pompeii. Living together without marriage (almost half of our children are born outside of marriage), pornography, nudity and near nudity. Television promotes illicit sex as normal, sexual harassment, rape and violence against women, just to name a few.
Burton F. Blair, Luverne, Minn.

Just for the record: I for one have never wondered if "there is a connection between sexual violations and that natural disaster?"  However, I have wondered if French kissing leads to blizzards.blizzard

Burton, thanks for clearing all this up for us.

Even worse was the letter that says there should be a zero tolerence standard for sex just as there is for drugs and alcohol.

Are you sure this isn't one of your spoof posts? This is a real letter?

Unfortunately, it IS a real letter.
Burton seems to have some real hangups and perhaps should seek some professional help.
Isn't it amazing that S-E-X always seems to be the reason for God's wrath?
It's never about greed, usury, abandoning those less fortunate and our overall social Darwinist attitude in this state and this country.
My own personal faith journey begins and ends with the Sermon on the Mount. It's the ONLY thing you need to know regarding Christ's demands of us if we are to be good Christians. All the rest is filler.
I don't recall any sexual content in the Beatitudes-just a demand for love and concern, and a command to care for the less fortunate.
