S.D. Watch "Must Reads" for 7/20/05
John Roberts, John Roberts, John Roberts, Karl Rove, Tom Daschle, John Roberts, John Roberts.
That pretty much sums up BlogOLand for the past 12 hours.
Here's the stuff you need to read:
- Did Karl Rove -- gasp! -- lie?, Rove and Plame: The dog, unwagged (Salon), Former Intelligence Officers De-Spin Rightwing Assault on Valerie Wilson (David Corn), Lost Asset: The True Cost of the White House CIA Leak (Pensito Review)--The handwriting is on the wall. Karl must go. When will the President read it?
- Ron Moore's Deep Space Journey (New York Times)--You know, the new "Battlestar Galactica" on the SciFi channel is pretty good. With outstanding actors Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell, it can't completely suck.
- The Big Question For John Roberts via Craig Crawford:..., Chuck Schumer's response to Roberts Nomination/Blog... (Crooks and Liars), Roberts Rising, Lieberman Likes Roberts (S.D. Politics), The Yellow Dog: President Bush's Choice (Lawrence.com), Researching Roberts, Qualified? Maybe, you better answer some goddamned questions (The Political Forecast), Confirmation Whoppers - Senators Weigh In (PubSub: John Thune)--SCOTUS nominee John Roberts--the man, the myth, the legend. Frankly, for us liberals, it boils down to one thing: Roe v. Wade. I'll have more on this later.
- One of us! (Blind Orange Julius)--I have no idea what BOJ is trying to say with this picture but it is flippin' funny!
- April 24, 2005 / Seattle audio , San Diego night 2 audio (U2 Exit: Sound and Vision)--Another of Todd's Musical Gods--U2. This is audio from two of their recent concerts. I don't know if these are authorized U2 sites, so I have no opinion if the copyrights are cleared. But U2 sounds good--damn good.
- Dealing with Anonymous Blogs (Politics and Technology)--No offense to present company, but an interesting article on what political candidates should do to combat them.
- Theology Is Not The Answer (Sufi Tasawwuf Islam)--Sufism is an intellectual yet mystical branch of Islam. This wonderful post discusses what is really important about religion: love and that all the prophets lead to the same place. And a nice quote: "Let us be love and kindness and sensitivity. Let us not just talk about these things." Amen.
- Jesus and Prairie Market (Clean Cut Kid)--Chad has a thoughtful piece on the importance of religion in his life and in most people's lives--including Democrats.
- Iraqi Christians find safety in Syria (Religion News Blog)--Ironically, Iraqi Christians were safer under Saddam than they are under U.S. "protection."
- National Journal, Washington Post/AP, KELO-Land, KSFY Weigh in on Daschle's 2010 Campaign (S.D. Politics) and John Thune's Staff Desperately Tries to Change the Subject From Thune's Miserable Failure Tour (Thunewatch.com)--As TW notes, read it quick because this is a one day story.
- Deadwood may get an openly gay character (Moreover)--Boy, if you thought Al Swearengen swore before, wow, watch out.
- Just dyin' to meet you. (Crap and Drivel)--My favorite misanthrope is back.
- New Proud Liberal (Proud Liberal)--PL has a nice new site and URL. Go visit him!
- The BRAC hearings (S.D. Blog Watch)--Typical wit and wisdom from SDBWM regarding yesterday's BRAC hearing.
- Is that Dark Orange or Burnt Umber? The Psychology of Color in Politics. (S.D. War College)--To paraphrase "Chicago," "color my world with politics." PP has an excellent analysis of "what's my color" for political campaigns. (BTW, I'm a "winter.")
- It’s not a closely guarded secret that one of my p... (Rant a Bit)--Scott Hudson does, karaoke? A funny look at what passes for the late night scene in Our Fair City.
- Israeli and Saudi studies agree: Bush's war is creating legions of new terrorists (This Modern World by Tom Tomorrow)--Maybe our plan isn't working in Iraq.
- Herseth also on bank board (Sibby Online)--Another one day story. Sibby tries to connect the dots but the dots win.
Have a wonderful day!
