S.D. Watch "Must Reads" for 8/4/05

Hopefully, I've broken the computer whammy and these "Must Watches" will work okey-dokey. Okey-dokey?

Now go read the following.

SOUTH DAKOTA

When a message doesn't connect II ( S.D. War College )--While PP leads the way in S.D. blogging technology, he is at his best with posts like today's, with practical advice about campaigning and politics. He shows you how to write a killer fund raising letter. And, as a special treat, S.D. Blog Watch Man makes a special appearance with a spoof letter raising money for his next great project.

Pappy Boyington Would Be Proud (S.D. Politics)--You'd think a Rightwinger like Jon Schaff would know his war planes, since he's eager to send everyone else off to war in his steed. However, he does provide a nice photo of a Corsair, though it is not painted in Navy or Marine wartime colors from WW II or Korea . Yes Jon, even some liberals like me can identify our nation's war planes. Might I suggest you buy a copy of Jane's Military Aircraft?

It Would Take A Miracle (S.D. Politics)--But then Jon Schaff rallies with this humor gem: " A brain dead woman gives birth . No, not Brittany Spears."

Not the first time John, Rick and Karl have been ‘stuck’ together… (Don't Worry About the Government)--Jer Bear roars back into fine form and shows the Dan Nelson/John Thune Metabank connections and why the story is important. It is today's "Must Read" must read.

Tin Soldiers and Nixon’s Coming What I know ab... (Progressive Republican)--Gabe aggress with me re Paul Hackett. Losing stinks.

Sioux Falls — destination? (black marks on wood pulp)--The usually quiet and peaceful and voice of reason Corey goes medieval on Sioux Falls ' lack of tourista and cultural charms.

Red-light cameras (Sioux Falls Argus Leader)--The Angus Liar Ed Board Brain Trust defends its personal red-light camera at 10th and Minnesota.

GENERAL

Looking for the Humor in Americans' Struggle to Become Smaller (N.Y. Times)--An excerpt: " The trouble with "Starved," a comedy on FX about anorexia and bulimia, is that it's not quite funny enough." Yup, eating disorders. Funny, funny stuff. Vomiting always just knocks me on my butt.

It's the War against, no it's a struggle, no it's a... ... (Crooks and Liars)--Whatever President Bush calls it, the war in Iraq is still wrong.

Godjilla: Cross-eyed Genius (Lawrence.com)--Important safety tip enclosed.

Katherine Harris Charges Papers Altered Her Make-Up Talk... (Crooks and Liars)--There isn't a PhotoShop program big enough to do that.

Rush Limbaugh calls Hackett a "staff puke" Here's the... (Crooks and Liars) (audio)--Let's see, a guy who who never served in the military and had a thing for a certain drugs calls a member of the military a puke. Hmmmm. Must be a proud moment for all you pro-military Rightwingers out there.

Catch one for us, Mr. President (Salon)--President Bush takes one of his many well earned vacations. This one for a schedule five weeks. Last time he took a vacation of such length, bad things happened to the USA . Very bad things.

Daily Nightly: Marine deaths hit Ohio hard (MSNBC)--Besides a bad war, our currently policy of depending on Guard and Reserve units can have a devastating impact on a community should their unit come under heavy attack.

I've Been Clean for 30 years. Go Ahead, Smell My Breath (Wordlust: Paperfetish)--Ah, the joys of cat food, even for non-cats--like people.

Dentalbleg (damnum absque injuiria)--Even PP at S.D. War College hasn't thought of this: blogging for dental work.

Poll: Most Americans Think Bush Is Hiding Something about CIA Leak (Pensito Review)--Well duh!

With a nod to Jeff Gannon, Novak smears Wilson (Salon)--Nice to see my friend Jeff Gannon back in the news.

The space between. (Crap and Drivel)--More angry brilliance from an angry white man.

Bach vs. Simpson - 'Dukes' purists will decide (Sioux Falls Argus Leader)--I have to go with my SoDak homey, Catherine Bach, but Jessica Simpson is "Daisy Dukes" worthy as well.

KANSAS

Branch: Battles Heating Up , Barry Lynn on Bush Endorsement of ID , and Rabbi Says Science and Religion Not at Odds ( Red State Rabble)--Pat remains all evolution, all the time.

GRETZ: That Annoying Chiefs Defense ( Kansas City Chiefs)--Annoying doesn't begin to describe the Chiefs' bad defense.

State treasurer makes it official: She'll run again (Kansas.com)--And a big "who cares" goes off across the Jayhawk State.

Petty debate (Thoughts from Kansas)--No, it's not about Tom Petty or Richard Petty but about Rep. Dennis Moore being--gasp!--a moderate.

They get letters (Thoughts from Kansas )--I'm not sure exactly what it means, but something about teaching the bible and Episcopalians. My small Methodist brain can't process it.

Do married couples have a right to contraception? Roberts Says "No" : (Thoughts from Kansas )--Um, Houston , we have a problem here.

Fair opening to include Kansas quarter giveaway(Topeka C.J.)--Now there are two reasons to go to the Kansas State Fair--$0.25 and fried meat-on-stick products.

Seatbelts - Good habit(Topeka C.J.)--Boy, the CapJournal Ed Board REALLY takes a controversial stand on this one!

Have a great, computer virus free day.

Todd, the "must read" item from "Don't

Worry About the Government is dated July

17. Jeremy has been doing some "editing"

of his site for some "unknown" reason.

Check it out! What doesn't he want us to

to "read"?

This is another example of what I was

talking about yesterday regarding the

Hildebrand Boys and their juvenile and

vile hate campaign. You have been also

been inadvertantly duped.
August 4, 2005 | Unregistered CommenterErin
Yes, Erin, I deleted your contact information, for obvious reasons. Also, please stop emailing me.
August 4, 2005 | Unregistered CommenterJer Bear
It pays to be in touch with intelligent,

astute people who tell me what's going on.

Todd probably uses an RSS feed to track

the other blog sites. When "Don't Worry

About the Government" did their editing,

it showed up as a "brand new post". Pretty

slick there boys. Too bad you have now

shown us once again, how you operate under

the radar. You even duped Todd. I'm sure

that doesn't matter to you as long as you

have complete control of the information

as it relates to the Hildebrand Boys.

Definitely Hate and Bitterness is alive

and well and now we have Deception as well

August 4, 2005 | Unregistered CommenterErin
Hate and Bitterness directed at me now

in a personal way from "Don't Worry About

the Government". Have you ordered the

Fxxk Erin t-shirts yet?
August 4, 2005 | Unregistered CommenterErin
While you're on the phone ordering the

t-shirts, click over and call Chad and

ask him to stop calling me at my home.

Don't bring that Hate and Bitterness to

Iowa please.
August 4, 2005 | Unregistered CommenterErin
If I posted an old feed, I apologize. But the Dan Nelson/John Thune story remains South Dakota "Neverending Story." I can't help it if I can't remember the thousands of posts I read a week. Consider it remedial reading for Republicans.
August 4, 2005 | Registered CommenterTodd Epp
Todd, you have nothing to apologize for,

we all know what happened. You were

inadvertantly duped. The Hildebrand Boys

aren't apologizing to you are they?
August 4, 2005 | Unregistered CommenterErin
Erin,

I called you once this morning to see what the heck was going on with you. You seem to have lost it, so I figured I should check in with you.

But, after having hours of conversations with you and exchanging dozens of emails over the last month, you pretended you didn't know who I was and hung up.

What's with that?

--Chad.
August 4, 2005 | Unregistered CommenterChad
If anyone is following along here, Chad

is "concerned" about my well being. If

that were true, the comments about my

"losing it" were made for what reason?

Pretty slick guys!

Character assasination 101: question the

stability of the person you want to

discredit and do it publicly with a fair

amount of compassion for the obviously

"unstable" target. Again pretty slick.

August 4, 2005 | Unregistered CommenterErin
Erin,

I think anyone who has read what you have been writing over the last 24 hours and compared it with everything you wrote on all the blog sites over the last month, anyone would wonder where this is coming from.

Especially after all the emails you sent me telling me about how worried you were about your safety and my safety and a bunch of other crazy stuff.

And for you to hang up on me this morning, pretending you didn't even know who I was. Well, that was just plain rude.

I'm not sure what happened here, but I sure am a little curious to hear what the heck is going on with you.

--Chad.
August 4, 2005 | Unregistered CommenterChad
That's two times now that you have

questioned my mental health. Interesting

coming from someone who in the next

breath expresses concern? And you want to

talk about rude behavior?

It's more than a little rude that you

seem to think that other people are even

interested in this conversation.

Whatever public remarks I have made both

now and in the past, I stand by them.

You guys sure seem to be expending alot

of time trying to find out what's going

on with me. Why do you care?

I have a right to my opinion about you or

anyone else's activities.

You have made this personal now, and you

expect me and everyone else to believe

that you're on a fact finding mission.

You are proving my point about how you

guys operate.

When I have concerns about someone's well

being, I don't address it in a public

forum. My concerns about you or anyone

else have not been publicly addressed.

In your discussions about how to properly

"attack" me, how did the conversation go?
August 4, 2005 | Unregistered CommenterErin
Erin:

I too am befuffled about your recent posts. Chad, Theron, and Nathan et al are still doing what they've been doing all along--holding Sen. Thune accountable on DNA and many other issues. I don't understand your attacks against them. They are good people who are on the side of the the DNA consumers who you are trying to help.

Todd
August 4, 2005 | Unregistered CommenterTodd Epp
Erin,

It's not about your mental health. I'm sure you are fine. I'm just a little confused about this, and I was hoping to get an explanation over the phone this morning instead of commenting back and forth on a website.

And for you to criticize us for bringing out criticism of Senator Thune. It is kind of funny, since you were the one who originally brought the story to us. The Thune/Metank story wasn't on our radar until we hear from you about the connection.

I'm just very confused.

--Chad.
August 4, 2005 | Unregistered CommenterChad
By the way Chad, people have wondered

what is going on and they respectfully

asked me and I have since "privately"

responded to the honorable people that

have done so.

Ask Jeremy for my contact information.

Maybe he would be willing to share my

e-mail address with you, since he has

indicated that he is "done using" it.

I am and have always been willing to

answer e-mails.
August 4, 2005 | Unregistered CommenterErin
Nice comeback Chad, and the charm is

almost getting to me. Now, I'm fine.

A few minutes ago, I was "losing it".

I have to respectfully dispute your claim

that I brought this story to you. About

two months ago, I first encountered the

South Dakota bloggers when I was looking

for something related to DNA.

You were talking about this story as it

related to an anonymous poster that

called himself "Raider". Apparently this

anonymous poster had an IP address that

was connected to DNA. I did not bring you

this story. I first posted because I had

concerns about the erroneous information

that was being reported.

Nice try though.

I seem to remember that you didn't mind

taking credit for "breaking" this story.

At the time I didn't care who took the

credit, as long as it was being reported.

I am not a supporter of John Thune or any

groups associated with him.

Todd, if you wanted to know what was going

on with me, you should have asked.

I don't offer half hearted opinions on

anything, therefore, suffice it to say

that my opinions concerning this group are

not thrown out lightly.

If Chad or anyone else has legitimate

questions about this or anything else,

send me an e-mail. erin2535@mchsi.com

I think 6 or 7 more posts today will put all our minds at ease about your mental well-being, Rosana.
August 4, 2005 | Unregistered CommenterJer Bear
Erin,

As far as I can tell, you were calling around South Dakota circles, shopping the Metabank/Dan Nelson story at least 10 days before I ever wrote about it. When it landed in our lap, Theron, Jeremy, Nathan, and I did our research and wrote the story that you brought to us.

The only reference I ever made to Dan Nelson before the story came to us was on the post you mentioned, which had zero references to MetaBank. The MetaBank connection to John Thune and Dan Nelson wasn't realized until you started calling around.

And I'm glad you did. I still don't believe this story is dead. I just doesn't have any legs at the moment. We need more information and we are still digging to give it the legs that it needs. However, if the necessary facts to bring this story further along don't surface, the story isn't going to move forward.

The only thing that disturbs me is that you are now criticizing us becuase we wrote a story that you brought to us to write.

It just all seems odd, and I am very confused by it.

--Chad.

Oh, another hit from behind by another

member of the Hildebrand Traveling Circus

I actually felt that one Jeremy. I think

I would penalize you for cross checking

as well. That's about 4 minutes in the

penalty box for you!

Does this mean I'm off of your valentine

list as well?

I guess so, well you boys are continuing

to conduct yourselves as you usually do

with "decorum"
August 4, 2005 | Unregistered CommenterErin
I wish I were getting paid for this.

Another example of the "consulting"

work that you boys do so well.
August 4, 2005 | Unregistered CommenterErin
It is definitely worth mentioning that

the Hildebrand Boys are handling the

defense pretty well. Whew! They do have

an awful lot to defend.

I have to respectfully dispute Chad's

delusional theories regarding my

"shopping" the story around. Since I am

not a journalist and don't operate a blog,

I don't know what he is referring to.

The Metabank aspect of the story was a

natural progression since they're the

largest secured creditor involved. I'm

trying to comprehend how I brought this

part of the story to anyone. Wow, you

boys not only have vivid imaginations, but

your stamina is amazing.

I'm taking the hits pretty well although

that last check from behind from Jeremy

was pretty brutal. Major penalty for

illegal use of your stick.

Hey Todd I think I will take some of that

fruit you offered yesterday.
