KELO-TV: Janklow Civil Trial Set for March 1, 2008

KELOLAND-TV reports that the trial date has been set in the Randy Scott wrongful death/federal tort claim lawsuit against former U.S. Rep. Bill Janklow.  Trial is set for March 1, 2006.  Read: 2008 Trial Date Set For Janklow Civil Trial

The report also notes that there have been no settlement discussions.  That doesn't surprise me given the still early stages of the case.  I would also expect to see the trial date get pushed back.

If anyone has experience in these types of cases, would settlement be likely or even possible?  My own limited experience with suing the federal government for clients is that it is an all or nothing matter.  Any thoughts?
