SDW Exclusive: J.A.I.L.ers Getting GOP Feelers Re "E"

Assistant J.A.I.L.er-in-chief Bonnie Russell of San Diego left me a voicemail message a bit ago that said Amendment E pushers are getting feelers from Republican state parties from other parts of the country.

I have no way to confirm this other than to take Bonnie's word for it.  She's been straight with me so I don't doubt the veracity of her claim.

However, if I were a Republican (and as you know, I'm not), I think I'd wait a few hours more to see how the election results turn out in South Dakota.  Also, the opposition to Amendment E has been bipartisan, so I'm not sure what the GOP sees of value in J.A.I.L. other than screwing up our judicial system.

Somehow, I don't believe it. Unless it's inquiries on the resolution language that was drafted by the legislature to unanimously oppose it.

Dear Todd, - my new best friend.

I guess you've missed my being on record twice now calling Branson a clown,...so my new best friend, no more associating me with him.

But just in case there's any doubt; I am not now, nor ever would be in any way shape or form, ever - EVER be associated with Ron Branson and his nutcake band of . . .whatever they are.

In fact, I only agreed to help if Branson wasn't in the picture.

Also, not to put too fine a point on it - below was a quote in a legal paper today.

"Jake Hanes, spokesman for the Measure E campaign, gives Branson credit for writing the template used to create Measure E. But, he said it was the only one available to William Stegmeier, a businessman and chief financial backer of the campaign, at the time. Hanes said Branson has not contributed money to the campaign or been involved in any other way.
Bonnie Russell, who lives in a San Diego suburb, said she was largely responsible for convincing the campaign to distance itself from Branson.
"I can't say this too strongly. The individuals I'm working with believe Ron Branson is a buffoon. I'm not saying Ron Branson doesn't have the right to flap his gums, because he does," she said. "He is associated himself with people who have left him behind. They think he's a detriment, and I totally agree."
Russell said she's been working with the Amendment E campaign - Hanes, in particular - on media strategy."

(Then they wrote about my efforts involving um, a quicker result.

"...is championing a new Web site where litigants can pay to research - and sound off about - judges.
http://www.USAJudges.com - which is linked to the Amendment E Web site - is building a national database of information about judges. But unlike Web sites where users simply air their gripes, USAJudges offers customized reports comprised of independently verified information, Russell said.
The site already has a videotape of a Texas judge playing solitaire while on the bench, courtesy of a television station.
"People need to be heard, and they just aren't. Screamer sites are giving off way too much white noise," Russell said.
What passion Russell has for her efforts, she lacks in love for Branson. To her, he is a "clown."

By the way, I think your our country's first blogger legal analyst. Great!
