*^&%$ Pottymouths Invade Argus Leader Forums

I received the following admonition from the Argus Leader's Forums' (http://www.argusleaderonline.com/forum/) honcho today:

This message is for all forum users.
The profanity, name calling and
general discussion in our online
forum is getting to the point where
people are going to get banned at
an alarming rate.

If you do not wish to have the
forums locked and posts edited
by Argus Leader staff, I would
suggest that all users think
about what they are typing.

If you want this to be an open
forum with quality discussion
write smart and
dignified comments.

I am happy to report that here at S.D.
Watch, we have very little problem
with pottymouths.  Officer Epp zaps
them with his mighty delete key.
Plus, we just have a better class of
readers and commenters!  Thanks for
not being jerks, gentle readers!

As a "senior member" of the Argus Forums, I can tell you that I take frequent breaks (or maybe I just forget) from posting there. I have written posts that beg for some order to discussions of ISSUES rather than the diatribe of quotes-and-oneliners that commences after roughly 18 postings: it's very difficult to make your way through them because the scrolling takes forever.
Then there are those who post long articles from other publications. These are usually from left-of-center and are like an attempt to rewrite the Argus, convey information that is not otherwise in print. I, for one, can't deal with reading a long article on the screen and I'm not going to attempt to print them out. Too much time spent scrolling to find any readers/posters who use the board in a way as to encourage others to exchange ideas.
I've dropped in and quickly out of blogs and boards that have been engulfed by some fundamental mold and become all about individuals emotional reactions to another's emotional reactions to....
