Jack Steps up to the Plate, Swings; No, He Calls Time Out!

Run Jack Run!  Win Jack Win!
Democratic Forum, noon today in Sioux Falls, Downtown Holiday Inn.  The press is there.  A good, much larger than average crowd is there.  The guest speaker, Dr. Jack Billion, putative Democratic candidate is there and is the featured speaker.

The crowd is restless with anticipation.  Bites of soggy white fish are downed.  Salads are eaten.  Chocolate cake is enjoyed.

First, a little business, introduction of guests.  Then, introduction of the main speaker, Jack.

Jack fires up the computer and a sideshow of his recent visit to Pakistan.  Damn, they have a lot of rocks in Pakistan.  Looks like some of the guys wear skirts.

The tension continues to build.  TV photographers "spray the room" for video.

Q and A time.  Lots of esoteric questions about Pakistan.  Ok, is any one there because of Pakistan?  Jack says their hospitals aren't very clean.  I'll file that bit of knowledge away for use when I visit Pakistan on some future vacation.  I've been to enough third world hellholes.  Next overseas trip is to Great Britain, Germany, or Australia--someplace with decent plumbing.

Finally someone asks the question we all want to know: "Jack, are you running for governor?"

Jack pauses, smiles.  Winds up to a sort of stump speech.  "Open government. . . decent wages. . . education. . ."  No mention of what everyone is really ticked off about, abortion.

"I'm about 75% through with the process to decide," he says.  Talks about whether there is money and support.

Meanwhile, a supporter is at a back table with petitions to put Jack on the ballot.  Maybe. I take one and tell the dude, "If I get a bunch of signatures and he doesn't run, that's embarrassing."  No comment from the dude.

Maybe Jack will decide to swing in Aberdeen tomorrow at McGovern Day.  Or maybe not.  But time is running out.  Petitions due April 4.  Today, he got in the batters box then called time out.

I'm tired of time outs. It's time to play--and win--the game.

Run Jack Run! Because you can Win Jack Win!

A number of people in Sioux Falls are circulating petitions. I have one. I'm sure there will be people at McGovern Day in Aberdeen with petitions. If not, drop me and email and I'll send you one to circulate.

What about Dennis Wiese? Anyone still considering him? He was at McGovern Days and was getting a lot of support from fellow Democrats to run. I think he is our answer to beating Rounds...more than Jack.
