Now Playing at the SD Watch Cineplex: Citizen Rounds!
I think this Citizen Kane-inspired movie poster parody by Scott Ehrisman is one of his best works. It is extraordinary for its style—and funny. It might be a little subtle if you’re not a Citizen Kane fan, but if you are, you’ll get it.
It is based on the scene where Charles Foster Kane returns from a triumphal tour of Europe and is breathlessly asked by the press about his opinion of pending war in Europe.
And here’s a quote from IMDB from Citizen Kane:
Charles Foster Kane: Don’t worry about me, Gettys! Don’t worry about me! I’m Charles Foster Kane! I’m no cheap, crooked politician, trying to save himself from the consequences of his crimes!
[Screams louder]
Charles Foster Kane: Gettys! I’m going to send you to Sing Sing! Sing Sing, Gettys! Sing Sing!
