Sen. Abnor wasn’t a great speaker and seemed to have a slight speech impediment but I didn’t hear Republicans then say that disqualified him from office. Same with Sen. Johnson.
The issue isn’t how well he speaks but how well he can represent the state. We should be more concerned about his overall health and his cognitive functions rather than if he can rat-a-tat-tat at Janklow-like machine gun speed.
I think Tim should be judged by the same criteria as before the AVM. Is he an effective legislator, does he work on behalf of the citizens, what are his positions on the major issues, can he do the job? If Tim is judged on this rather normal electoral criteria, he will win.
On a personal note, if any of you ill-wishers ever suffer a stroke or other disability and can’t fully recovery your ability to speak normally, I hope you won’t mind if we think you’re now a big fat drooling dummy. That seems to be what you’re saying about Sen. Johnson just because he speaks more deliberately now and sometimes searches for words.

How come you have all the annoying popups that drive your readers away? I bet Powers wouldn't do that.

Unfortunately, my host, Squarespace.com, puts those annoying popups in. I agree, they are a pain. And I receive no revenue from them.

The absurdity is that the same people who obsessively point out the Senator's halting speech and never miss an opportunity to generate doubt about his capacity to serve. They themselves are not proficient enough with language to realize that their motives and attitudes shape the grammar they use and give us a very transparent view of their minds and their purposes.
These are the same people who defend the inarticulate tgey out in the White House.
And in their fervor to create doubt, they did not point out that Sen. Johnson has limited the use of his electric scooter and has taken to walking on to the Senate floor with his cane.
The factions in the culture wars are now divided on issues of integrity.
Maybe Mike Rounds will run he is a true conservative.Mike doesn't even fund education that is how tight he is.
How about Dusty running, he could do better than the guy who ran against Herseth.He could get at least 3o percent I think. na.
