I'm Semi-Back

I haven’t posted here in well over a month, which is some sort of record in reverse for me.

I’ve been busy, to say the least.

First of all, I’ve been occupied with my new job as a staff attorney a Galland Law Firm.  Things are going well there and I enjoy my colleagues and the atmosphere very much.  My thanks to Mary Ann Giebink for hiring me! Up until last week, I was preparing for the very real possibility of a federal trademark infringement trial.  We settled just prior to trial.

Second, besides coaching my son’s U12 rec soccer team this spring, I’ve also been busy refereeing my first season of soccer.  I look pretty darn nifty in black officiating socks pulled up to my knees.  Don’t make me card you!

Third, and this will make some of my Democratic “friends” very “happy,” I did get elected committeeman from Lincoln County.  So, I have been involved in local county Democratic politics.  I will be more involved as we work to organize Lincoln County and work to help the State Party. I’ve also been busy helping to form an exciting new group that is going to advocate for GLBT rights in the state.  More on that later as well.

Fourth, my wife Donna has been gone on business a lot, so I’m at home being a single father, driver, cook, homework assistant, and bathroom attendant.  I like being at home tending to the home fires.  I’ve become a definite homebody and really dislike leaving Lincoln or Minnehaha Counties for any length of time.  Duty calls but I’d rather stay around home and do stuff with the kids.

And fifth, I had run out of political stuff to say.  Since January 2005 and nearly 3000 entries, I’ve said a lot, and sometimes, too much.  What more can I say against the Iraq Civil War?  What else can I say about Thune and Rounds and Bush that hasn’t already been said?  I needed to take a break.

Then former Republican legislator Ted Klaudt and his problems came along this past week  Talk about a big, fat juicy target!  Wow.  More on that later too.

Also, there is going to be an exciting development in the South Dakota Blogosphere that I can’t tell you about yet.  When this happens, it’s going to blow the lid off what we political bloggers do here in South Dakota.  And I want to be a part of it.  But I can’t tell you—yet.  Think of it as the “Gorilla Project” for South Dakota bloggers.  It will be exceedingly cool—and maybe even profitable.

It’s not like I haven’t been blogging at all, however, I have been blogging regularly at TV Bloggin, my TV news and review site that I actually get paid to blog on.  I’ve really enjoyed writing about TV news, programs, and celebrities.  I throw in a little politics now and again, but for the most part, it is my snark about what’s on the cool small blue tube.  Oh, and one other TV thing.  NBC’s Heroes is for nerds.

I’ve also done some writing on Associated Content.  Some of you might enjoy my recent article on the passing of the Rev. Jerry Falwell.

So, I’m semi-back.  Not as much as before.  I’ll probably have far fewer posts but longer, more “serious” ones on South Dakota law, politics, culture and history.  And some humor as well.  If you don’t laugh, you’ll cry, particularly if you’re a liberal Democrat in a very red state like I am.  I’ve also streamlined the site some.

Talk to you later, fellow babies!

Welcome back to the fray. You were in the SD blogosphere long before I was, and it wasn't the same not seeing your regular inputs (even if I don't agree with most of them).

Glad to hear your new job is going well.

I look forward to hearing more about this “Gorilla Project.”
