Breaking: Roll Call--Hildebrand Accues Schuldt of Embezzlement

Roll Call Magazine (paid subscription required) confirms what has been sotto voce in the regional blogosphere: Chad Schuldt is accused of embezzling from Hildebrand Tewes.

Hat tip to South Dakota War College for finding this first.  Pat has additional comments worth reading about the matter as well.

The blurb from Roll Call:

Hildebrand Deputy Fired Amid Embezzlement Allegations
Thursday, July 26; 12:48 pm
Steve Hildebrand, founding partner of the Democratic consulting firm Hildebrand Tewes and key adviser to Sen. Barack Obama’s (D-Ill.) presidential campaign, confirmed Thursday that Chad Schuldt was fired from his firm for allegedly embezzling “over $100,000.”

Hildebrand is a victim in this matter.  Like other businesses—political and otherwise—a trusted employee may have betrayed him.  That is not a “Republican” or “Democrat” thing but a human nature thing.

Because Chad was so outspoken about Republican ethical lapses and so on, of course this reflects badly on him, Steve, and Democrats.

But like the NBA official who may have been betting on his own games, it doesn’t mean Hildebrand is crooked, Democrats are crooked, or Sen. Daschle, Johnson, or Obama are crooked.

Shit happens.

I will try and remember this the next time a Republican has something similar happen to them.  It’s easy to draw conclusions of rampant corruption when a rogue person does something bad to someone who didn’t do anything wrong.  Thowing the baby out with the bath water comes to mind.

I hope Steve can get this taken care of with the IRS and Chad gets whatever help it is he needs.

Clean Cut Kid was one of the first blogs I read. For the first few months of tdaxp's existence, CCK himself, Chad Schuldt, was kind enough to comment here on several occasions. As recently as April he linked to my analysis of Congress's low approval...

This is exactly what Chad did, my friend. Every time some INDIVIDUAL Republican would do something bad, he would label the whole party as corrupt. Don't you see that?

Maybe that is because everytime the Democrats do something bad, the Republicans jump all over them. Don't you see that? It is basically a political game. As far as some of Chad's comments about Republicans go, I take almost everything that politicans say "with a grain of salt." Most people should do that.
