How Green is the Gorilla?

stockxpertcom_id2393681_size1%20sky%20and%20land.JPG

A Union County resident from rural Burbank who would be smack dab in the middle of the so-called Gorilla Project has written Hyperion’s John Huddleson (with copies to Sen. John Thune, Gov. Mike Rounds, former V.P. Al Gore, and me) a letter with her concern about just how “green” the proposed oil refinery will be.

While I don’t agree with all of Tracy Smith’s points, she has written a thoughtful letter that raises some interesting questions.

An excerpt:

… Hyperion’s cash contributions to South Dakota State Senator Thune and any other local, state, or federal officials in order to acquire support for their projects are offensive to the American people.  I am disgusted by such practices and only hope the American people stand up and abolish Government for hire practices once and for all.

Go truly “green” Hyperion and invest in our health, safety, and well being for sustainable energy and economic growth by investing your 10 billion dollars in alternative energy instead of investing in a limited short supply polluting resource.  After all what will the sites of Union County become once the oil is gone, just another industrial waste land?  Hyperion’s planned refinery is not a solution it is a band aid.

Thank you for posting parts of my letter. I do believe there is a small misquote above. It should read "abolish Government for hire pratices" not "Governor".

I also noticed a copy of the Declaration of Independence posted above my comments. I am the great great great great granddaughter of John Morton, one of the original signers of the Declaration of Independence. I am all too certain he would be just as disgusted with Government for hire just as I am.

Tracy:

Thanks for spotting the error. I've made the correction. Must have been a Freudian slip.
