The Tears of the SD GOP Wolf Pack
Dr. Newquist at the Northern Valley Beacon has a far more intellectual take on small town/state gossip and bullies than what is going to follow here. Read The Nuke if you want to be smarter.
One of the funny things I’ve noticed about the SD GOP Wolf Pack and their circling of Sen. Tim Johnson is that the appear to fall into two classic bully categories:
- Who, Me? Many bullies lack the self-awareness to know they are bullies. They simply continue to try and put Sen. Johnson’s head and the toilet and give him twirly-whirlies.
- No, I’m the Victim! Other bullies are actually cowards when confronted with their bulliness. They then claim that they are the ones who are picked on. This is because they can’t believe someone would actually stand up to them. After slugging the 98 pound weakling on the school yard and the beloved jock with a conscience then punches them in the gut, these bullies run to the playground supervisor and say that the Good Samaritan is picking on them. That’s mostly what we have here in the local Rightwing blogosphere.
Sometimes the bullying is not physical but mental, like it is here. It is the type of bullying that calls people “nuts,” “unbalanced,” “needing to take their meds,” “take a pill,” naming a former U.S. Senator after a venereal disease, and constantly saying there is no “proof” of their assholeness when all one needs to do is log into and read most of the Rightwing blogs and their comments (at least those that allow comments) about Sen. Johnson.
Jesus, do I have to do all your work fo you? Fire up your own damn computer and take a look. I’m not looking to give these jerks more traffic if I don’t have to.
If I seem pissed off about all this, I am. Tim Johnson is a good man who had a terrible medical condition happen to him. He’s a friend. He’s my Senator. I’d do the same thing for my other friends, no matter what their political party or views. These attacks and meanspiritedness towards him are undignified and uncalled for. Damn right I’m going to call out the bullies and throw at least a few verbal punches in defense of my buddy. And frankly, I don’t care if you like it or not.
If you bullies are going to throw punches, you better be able to take a few yourselves.
