And Now, a Palate Cleanser from Madison, SD
I know Madison, SD is not the most exciting place in South Dakota. Hell, it’s not even the most exciting place in Lake County.
But my blogger brother at the Madville Times has been burning the keyboard ALL FREAKIN’ DAY LONG with hard-hitting posts like this:
DQ Serves Coolest Electrician in Town
Jane Clark adds some spark to the DQ drive-through, coming with her young apprentice Matt (he’s masquerading as a big sunbeam behind the windshield!) for a Blizzard break. Jane is just part of the surging afternoon break crowd. We had a brief lull for all of an hour, but now cars are lined up at the drive-thru back to the highway.
(By the way, check out that clear blue sky! The DQ sign reads 89 delightful degrees. Go for a swim, then come for a Blizzard!)
Ok, I can see where buying a Blizzard at the local DQ might rank as the highlight of life in Madison for the year, especially for a good cause, but JUDAS H. PRIEST MAN, 30 FREAKIN’ BLOG POSTS ABOUT FRICKIN’ ICE CREAM IN ONE STINKING DAY?
Madville Dude, I nearly took you off my RSS feed at left because I couldn’t believe that a grown person would write so much or so passionately about soft serve ice cream that you can buy in nearly any American city over the size of 2,000 residents. I mean, if you were like six, maybe, I could see it.
I’m sure today will go down in the City of Madison as the Day the Summer Blizzard came and old timers in 2057 will recollect about the day the local DQ sold a whopping103 Blizzards. Certainly, it is the stuff of legends. Perhaps even books and movies will be written about the event.
But enough of the insufferable Blizzard blogging, ok? Please?! I’m getting a brain freeze.
Ok, good cause—Children’s Miracle Network—but over the top posts. I’ll send a donation for being a jerk.

Why don't you head to your local DQ and buy a few blizzards; maybe you can help someone else beat our record.
And one more thing. Madison has a hell of lot more going for it than Harrisburg. I seem to remember something about glass houses and stones...
Like the over-the-top and oh-so-vital posts on Shawn Cable and Hildygate??
But I didn't have 37 posts in one day on either of those topics. Let's see: ice cream v. one of the nation's biggest Democratic operatives and a beloved local TV weathercaster. Yup, I can see how ice cream is way more important.
Don't you hate it when you get those ice cream headaches?!
Which is why you have your blog and MT has his. Care to tell anyone else what to say on their personal blogs?
Normally I'm a big fan of yours. But this time you're missing the point(s). The DQ coverage was not about ice cream. It was about fundraising for CMN AND about one little ol' town in South Dakota rallying to be #1 (again!) in the nation for something really cool (forgive me). It was the same live coverage concept as other live blogs for charity or the CMN marathon.
