I Woke Up this Morning with My Schaff Glued to the Carpeting

I read SD Politics Rightwinger Jon Schaff on KELOLAND today and couldn’t have been more surprised if I woke up with my head glued to the carpet.

Me agreeing with Schaff is like dogs and cats calling a truce.  Sure, it’s possible but not likely.

I actually agreed with his analysis of how the American people have been poorly lead—and failed to practice critical thinking skills—in the lead up and prosecution of the Iraq Civil War.

An excerpt:

… Thus it is disappointing that the American people put far more trust in our military than our president or Congress when it comes to victory in Iraq.  This is understandable, for of course generals are largely immune to political attack and they don’t have to take any position on abortion.  But this is also the result of poor leadership by both branches.  One the eve of the anniversary of 9-11, we should recall that one of George Bush’s first reactions to that event was to tell the American people to go shopping… .

Schaff quotes President Abraham Lincoln, a Republican who actually knew how to lead in wartime, and notes that war is a political activity.

Read Schaff’s excellent analysis.  And who knew that on the eve of the 911 anniversary, a liberal and conservative might come full circle regarding what is in the nation’s best interest.

Todd, Schaff"s post must have been edited after you read it. It gives credit to Bush for political courage instead of correctly labeling his exploitation of the issue as he called it..a winning Tri-fecta as a series of grossly partisan decisions.

It is also not at all true that Democrats in power have opposed everything George Bush has presented.

Schaff is a skillful propagandist putting just enough limp truth in to make his outrageous partisan assertions seem valid.
