No. 7 Notre Dame Faces DI Newcomer USD on the Hardwood

This could be an ugly “welcome to the Big Time” for the University of South Dakota Coyotes men’s basketball team.

They have the daunting task of playing not only a well established DI team—the Notre Dame Fighting Irish—but the Irish are ranked number seven and playing at home. They are also one of the most touted programs in basketball history.

Ouch.

The TSN story below has an error, as I believe USD is now in DI in its transition period to full DI NCAA status and no longer a DII team.

Let’s hope the ‘Yotes keep it close.

But as the SDSU Jackrabbit women have shown, South Dakota teams can play with the big boys and girls.  But probably not just this team quite yet.
