Sioux Falls - South Dakota Democratic Party officials today announced that they have hired Jackie Lee to head up the 2008 coordinated campaign efforts.
Lee recently served as Iowa Statewide Field Director for former Senator John Edwards during his 2008 presidential campaign and has previously run or served in a senior role in statewide coordinated campaigns in Florida, Oklahoma, Delaware, Virginia, South Dakota and Louisiana.
"Jackie Lee is as good a campaign organizer as there is in the entire country and we are elated that she has agreed to come back to South Dakota to run all of our party's coordinated campaign activities for our state legislative candidates, as well as for Stephanie Herseth Sandlin's and Tim Johnson's U.S. House and U.S. Senate races," South Dakota Democratic PartyExecutive Director Rick Hauffe said.
Lee had previously worked in South Dakota in 2002 when she ran the party's coordinated campaign operation in the Brookings area.
"Jackie is simply one of the best field organizers in the country today and for the state party to have gotten her to agree to head up our coordinated campaign operations for all of our party's candidates is a major coup for the party and for all of our candidates," Steve Jarding, campaign manager to U.S. Senator Tim Johnson's campaign said.
Lee begins her duties today (Friday).
