Breaking: US Supreme Court Says ID Requirement for Voting OK
From the Wall Street Journal:
The Supreme Court ruled Monday that states can require voters to produce photo identification without violating their constitutional rights, validating Republican-inspired voter ID laws. In a splintered 6-3 ruling, the court upheld Indiana’s strict photo ID requirement, which Democrats and civil rights groups said would deter poor, older and minority voters from casting ballots. Its backers said the law was needed to deter fraud.

Today, the government-approved photo ID. Tomorrow, bring back the poll tax and literacy test. Ain't the Bush Supreme Court great?
Keep hope alive.
My favorite part: The conservatives said that this doesn't stop anyone from voting, because people get provisional ballots, and then have 10 days to prove their identity in court.
People barely show up for court to get out of a speeding ticket...like over-worked and under-paid voters are actually going to be able to go to court over this.
Rick:
Why not go all the way and just allow white male property owners to vote?
