MoveOn.org Targets Rep. Herseth Sandlin on Funding Iraq War
Dear MoveOn member,
Tomorrow could be Congress' last chance to exercise real oversight on the war. The media is paying less attention to Iraq, but we need to remind Rep. Herseth Sandlin that voters aren't—Americans are more frustrated with the war than ever before.
Can you call Rep. Herseth Sandlin right now and tell her that votersare tired of dumping billions into the unwinnable war in Iraq?Tell Rep. Herseth Sandlin that voters are looking for accountabilityfrom President Bush on the war and we want our troops home quickly.(We've included more details below.)
Here's where to call:
Representative Stephanie Herseth Sandlin
Phone: 202-225-2801
Then, please report your call by clicking here:
According to news reports, Congress will have a series of separate votes. There'll be one vote on whether to give the president$162 billion to fund the war through next year—with no strings attached. That's a huge amount to spend on keeping troopsin Iraq, especially at a time when peoples' houses are being foreclosed and unemployment is going up at home.
Then, there will be separate votes on measures to redeploy our troops and hold the Bush administration accountable for theiractions during the war—measures that could ban torture, hold contractors accountable, and prevent President Bush fromcommitting our troops to a permanent presence in Iraq.1
It's important that all members of Congress hear that voters do notwant the president to get another $162 billion blankcheck for the war. Can you call Rep. Herseth Sandlin and ask her toreject a blank check for the president and to support proposalsto bring our troops home and hold Bush accountable instead?
Thanks for all you do.

I recall last summer being incredibly disappointed and disheartened with her vote to continue funding the war and came really close to registering Independent over it. I'm all for some heat sent in the direction of our elected officials to quit giving the Shrub every thing he wants and getting by with blatent criminal acts.
Not a blue-dog fan.
The vote that MoveOn is protesting was rather designed by Speaker Pelosi to fund the war though the end of the Bush Administration. This isn't a Bush deal, it's a proposal crafted by Pelosi.
Additionally, the Feefster might be happy to know that the vote has been postponed because the Blue Dogs have objected to it, on the grounds that it's not paid for...
And what's your response to this, Todd?
P.S. Did you vote for the Obama in 30 Seconds videos at MoveOn?
