How Much Do Our Congressional Staffers Make?
Here’s the answer. LegiStorm has posted the latest congressional staff salary data from the U.S. Senate and U.S. House.
You’ll be shocked by some by how much they make. You’ll be shocked by others by how little they make.
I was just happy to see my buddies Jon Lauck and Mark Haugen land on their feet with Sen. Thune’s office. Hate to see my friends have to get on Food Stamps, particularly as small government Republicans.
Have fun!

Actually, even as a small-government Republican, I think Senators and Representatives don't get paid enough. The politicians have to maintain two homes and that is not easy (unless you get sweetheard mortgage deals, ha.). This is the reason that wealthy people, or at least people who can afford to be a Senator or Representative, are so prevalent in the legislative branch of government. I think we could get a wider range of people to run for office if the compensation were better. (I know, perks are great. Agreed.) As for the staffers, at least some of them are on call most of the time when they are not at the office. The ones I checked (in both Johnson and Thune's offices) were not overpaid, in my opinion..
I don't think the salaries are too high. Some are too low.
