Stopping Unintended Pregnancies? I'm Guessing Gov. Rounds Ain't Interested

Who: 9 diverse organizations concerned with the health and well being of women joined together to ask the Governor to use his leadership to find practical solutions to unintended pregnancy in South Dakota. The group consists of members of AAUW South Dakota, Democracy In Action – Rapid City, South Dakota League of Women Voters, NARAL Pro-Choice South Dakota, National Women’s Political Caucus – South Dakota, Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, South Dakota Advocacy Network for Women and the South Dakota Coalition Against Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault and South Dakota NOW.
What: Coinciding press conferences in Sioux Falls and Rapid City.
Where: In Rapid City, the press event will be held at the Rushmore Plaza Holiday Inn in the Board Room. The Sioux Falls event will be held in the Embassy III Room of the Downtown Holiday Inn City Centre.
When: Both events will take place on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008. The Rapid City event begins at 11:30 MST and the Sioux Falls press conference starts at 12:30 CST.
Why: Unintended pregnancy is a serious public health issue in South Dakota. By using his leadership, the organizations involved believe the Governor can put together sound policy that will reduce the number of unintended pregnancies and the need for abortion in this state.
